The Phantom Planter
The Phantom Planter grew up in Belfast during the tumultuous 1980s, born to a Catholic mother and a Protestant father. This unique upbringing in a divided city shaped his early life, instilling in him a deep understanding of community and resilience. After making his fortune his life spiralled out of control and he hit rock bottom.

In his quest for redemption, he found himself in a Buddhist monastery in Co Cavan. This transformative experience changed his perspective and gave his life new meaning. Embracing the teachings of Buddhism, he discovered a passion for giving back to nature and his community.

Since then, he has become known as The Phantom Planter, dedicating his life to planting thousands of fruit trees throughout Belfast. His mission is to create free food sources for all, fostering a sense of community and sustainability. Through his efforts, he aims to inspire others to take similar actions.

Betty
Meet Betty, affectionately known as 'Wee Betty,' the spirited and loyal companion of The Phantom Planter, who is never far from his side on all his tree-planting missions and countless adventures. This lovable rescue dog, a mix of Springer Spaniel and Jack Russell, has been a beacon of energy and joy for the past decade.
In fact, it was Betty who truly did the rescuing. When the Phantom Planter was at his lowest, grappling with his addictions and demons, Wee Betty's arrival marked a turning point. Her infectious spirit and unwavering loyalty gave him the courage and motivation to embark on invigorating hikes to reclaim his health.
Together, they not only plant trees and deliver mattresses, but also sow seeds of hope and resilience, proving that sometimes, the ones we rescue end up rescuing us right back.
